An asset is a physical or trackable item an organization wants to identify, monitor, maintain, or manage over time.
Examples include HVAC equipment, vehicles, appliances, furniture, devices, tools, and other equipment. An asset usually has its own condition, location, service history, or maintenance needs.
What Information Can an Asset Record Hold?
- Name, asset number, category, or model.
- Location or facility.
- Current condition or status.
- Purchase, installation, warranty, or service dates when relevant.
- Maintenance, inspection, issue, and work history.
- Documents, notes, or responsible team.
The record should only include information the organization needs to manage the asset well.
How Is an Asset Different From a Facility?
A facility is the wider physical place being operated. An asset is a specific item inside, attached to, or used by that facility.
For example, a recreation center is a facility. Its boiler, treadmill, access-control panel, and maintenance vehicle can each be separate assets.
How Does Booking Ninjas Use Asset Records?
Booking Ninjas can connect an asset to maintenance, inspections, issues, work orders, and its wider facility context. That keeps the history of the item attached to the item itself instead of scattered across separate notes.
