A recurring booking is a set of bookings that repeats on a schedule.
Instead of creating each reservation separately, the system creates a repeating series while keeping each occurrence connected.
What Can Repeat?
Recurring bookings are useful when the same type of use happens more than once. Examples include:
- A weekly class in the same studio.
- A monthly meeting room reservation.
- A standing sports court schedule.
- A long-term or repeated facility-use agreement.
- A program with sessions on several dates.
The repeat pattern may be daily, weekly, monthly, or another approved schedule.
Does Every Occurrence Have to Stay the Same?
No. A recurring series can still need exceptions.
For example, one session may move to a different room, one date may be canceled, or one occurrence may need a different time.
Booking Ninjas' booking engine supports editing or canceling individual instances while keeping the relationship to the wider series.
What Happens if One Date Is Not Available?
Each occurrence still needs to follow the relevant availability, capacity, and booking rules.
A recurring request should not assume that every future date is free just because the first date is available. Conflicts, closures, blackout dates, capacity limits, or another booking can affect individual dates.
A recurring series saves repeated setup work, but each occurrence still has to be valid.
What if the Series Uses Several Spaces?
A recurring booking can also involve several resources. For example, a weekly program may need a room, equipment, and an instructor.
Each required resource may need its own availability check for every occurrence. See How Multi-Space Bookings Work.
How Does Booking Ninjas Support Recurring Bookings?
Booking Ninjas' Booking Engine includes recurring booking for repeat usage, standing schedules, programs, and long-term reservations.
Its Resource Scheduling tools help coordinate rooms, equipment, people, and other resources around those schedules.
For the basic term, see Booking.
