A payment is a record of money being paid toward a charge, booking, invoice, membership, contract, or other amount owed.
The payment can be for the full amount or only part of it. The system should keep the payment connected to what it was for so staff can see what has been paid and what is still due.
What Information Can a Payment Record Hold?
- Amount paid.
- Date and time.
- Customer or account.
- Related invoice, booking, or charge.
- Payment method or processor reference.
- Status, such as pending, successful, failed, or refunded when supported.
How Is a Payment Different From an Invoice?
An invoice shows what is owed. A payment shows money that was paid.
One invoice can receive one payment or several partial payments. See Invoice and Deposit for the related terms.
How Does Booking Ninjas Manage Payments?
Booking Ninjas' Payment Processing tools connect payments to invoices, bookings, and financial records.
The current feature set supports one-time and recurring payments, invoice updates, refunds, reversals, and transaction tracking. The available payment methods still depend on the payment provider and the approved setup.
