A customer portal is a secure online area where customers can view or manage selected information without asking staff to do every small task for them.
Depending on the setup, a portal can show bookings, account details, invoices, payments, documents, requests, messages, or other approved records. Customers only see the information and actions they are allowed to access.
What Can Customers Do Through a Portal?
- View or update account information.
- See bookings, services, or account activity.
- View invoices, balances, or payment history.
- Upload or download approved documents.
- Submit and track requests.
- Receive updates or messages.
A portal does not need every one of these functions. It should give customers the self-service options that are useful for that business.
How Is a Portal Different From the Staff System?
Staff may need broad access to customers, bookings, workflows, payments, and reports. Customers usually need a much smaller view that relates only to their own account or allowed records.
Salesforce Experience Cloud supports this model by giving external users selected access to Salesforce data and processes. Access is controlled by the site's setup, user type, and permissions.
How Does Booking Ninjas Use Customer-Facing Portals?
Booking Ninjas provides portal features for different external users. Its Client Portal feature, for example, supports account information, documents, billing visibility, requests, and role-based access.
Other portal types can be designed around guests, members, tenants, residents, or other groups depending on the organization.
Is This the Same as the Booking Ninjas Client Portal?
Not necessarily. In the Knowledge Center, the Booking Ninjas Client Portal also refers to the guided space Booking Ninjas uses with prospective or current clients to share materials, next steps, and project information.
